The title of the article is as stupid as it sounds.
There’s a movie coming out next month about wealthy liberals who hunt Trump supporters for sport.
Go ahead, let that sink in. Leftists, the people whining about the president being divisive, think it’s a good idea to make a film portraying their type hunting their ideological foes. Now, I’m not that smart, but that seems like a call to violence.
Sure, it’s just a movie… But we could say that about literally anything. “Hey, it’s just a speech”… “Hey, it’s just a campaign rally”… “Hey, it’s just a private meeting between the AG and former president whose wife is under investigation”… The “it’s just a (blank)” nonsense doesn’t fly when, more often than not.
The Hunt, set to release next month, is about two groups of people: the hunters and the hunted. The hunters are cast as liberal elites, while the hunted, the ones being shot at, are the “deplorables”. If that isn’t a flat out call to violence, I don’t know what is.
You want to talk about dog-whistles (I hate that word, but holy moly is it finally being used correctly), this is exactly that. This is Hollywood producers, directors, and actors perpetuating violence against conservative Americans.
Even people who make a living poking fun at politics think this is a bit over the line.
“Why would anyone think it’s a great idea to have a movie about hunting down someone who doesn’t agree with them politically?” asks political satirist Tim Young. “It’s remarkable to me that the left blames Donald Trump’s rhetoric for violence, then literally spends millions to normalize the killing of people based on politics”
“It’s remarkable to me that the left blames Donald Trump’s rhetoric for violence, then literally spends millions to normalize the killing of people based on politics”
“We’re told over and over again by the left, especially in Hollywood, that this country is more divided than ever and we need to come together… is this what they mean by it? Come together to murder your neighbors that you don’t agree with? This film is sick and shows just how hateful the left has become”
I certainly couldn’t have articulated it any better than that. We are told the president’s rhetoric is divisive, and inciting violence. Then, Hollywood decides a movie about Trump supporters being hunted would be a good idea.
I’ll give them credit, they’ve got people talking about it. All publicity is good publicity.
