San Francisco Protestors Chanting “America Was Never Great” Are Free To Leave Whenever T

Once upon a time I thought telling someone “you can leave” was a ridiculous notion.

Sure, people complaining about our county can solve their own problem and move, but this is the U.S.A. Speaking your mind is something that makes America, well, America!

With that said, I’m not sure people really know they are even allowed to leave this beautiful country that we are so fortunate to live in (fortunately, I’ve included some tips on how they can find a new home somewhere else at the bottom).

Protestors in San Francisco were videoed chanting things like “1, 2, 3, 4, Slavery, genocide and war,” and “5, 6, 7, 8, America was never great,” which got me thinking… If they really think the United States is a nation of “slavery” and “genocide”, why the heck are they living here?

I don’t mean that as an insult. I’m not telling them “hey, you should leave!” I’m genuinely confused. If they are living in a country that causes them to lose sleep at night, they should really consider living somewhere else.

I hear there’s discounted prices on airfare to Venezuela… a great opportunity for you to leave this awful place called the USA! — Tim R (@raventimr) December 18, 2019

Clearly, I’m not alone in my confusion:

there are several great websites on countries for ex-pats to move too…. you can even select coastal or mountain region….but literally you are free to go so you don't have to stay stressed here — KOB (@notnellyolson) December 18, 2019

Goabroad.com talks about how folks can become expats:

The obvious question, what is an expat, anyway? An expat or expatriate, if you want to be fancy, is literally any person who lives temporarily or permanently in a country other than their country of citizenship. Taking three to four months to backpack across South America? Yep, you’re an expat. Haven’t put a toe back in your home country in six to 10 years? You’re DEFINITELY an expat.

Always dreamt of living in the South of France, working in a boulangerie and sipping espresso in a cafe every day? You’re a would-be expat in the making and we’d love to help you figure out your next steps to expat-dom.

I highly recommend you share that with people who keep complaining about how awful things are here. You really hate to see people suffer. Let them know “hey, you can move” by giving them this helpful tool.
