Kamala Harris is not a real contender for the democrat party’s nomination, but she has some thoughts as to why that is.
“I have also started to perhaps be more candid talking about what I describe and what I believe to be the elephant in the room about my campaign,” Harris told Axios in an interview.
The elephant she’s referring to is “electability.”
“You know, essentially, is America ready for a woman and a woman of color to be president of the United States?”
Hold on a minute. We haven’t even made it out of the primaries. Harris is asking a question about a national poll, but she can’t even win her own party.
Kamala Harris is blaming her campaign failures on race, and gender, but she doesn’t realize she’s calling out her own party. Republicans haven’t (and won’t) participated in a democratic primary vote. So this question of “is America ready” is moot, because as it stands, not even democrats are ready for her.
This excerpt comes from The Week:
This is rot. What the country is not ready for is another cynical and self-serving bully-in-chief who, in her case, is masquerading as a progressive.
Harris, who catapulted herself to the second spot behind former Vice President Joe Biden in one or two 2020 polls over the summer, is now struggling to stay in the mid-tier. The latest USA Today/Suffolk survey shows that her support among primary Democratic voters has dropped from 15 percent at its peak to a mere 3 percent now. She is way behind South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg. Even Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has inched ahead of Harris, a particularly humiliating development given that Gabbard viciously attacked Harris’ record as a public prosecutor in California on the debate stage, just like Harris attacked Biden’s alleged opposition to school busing to propel herself several notches in the polls in July. Stunningly, Harris, who everyone expected to be right at the top, is now tied with entrepreneur Andrew Yang, a political nobody.
All of this is affecting her fundraising ability with her early lead dissipating in the last few weeks. She has spent $2.5 million more than she has raised and recently fired dozens of staffers because she can no longer afford them. Her New Hampshire operation is reportedly shuttered.
When you’re used to playing the victim, things are always someone else’s fault. That’s the case for Kamala Harris. This has nothing to do with her being a woman, or black, or whatever she wants to label herself as. This has to do with the fact that democrats see right through her, and she doesn’t like it.
This isn’t an America issue. This is solely reserved for the democrat party, and as it stands, no, they apparently are not ready for a woman of color to be their nominee.
