Another day, another example of public education blatantly pushing our kids to accept a particular ideology that flies in the face of God.
The Gulf Coast High School in Naples, Florida, decided that it was not going to recognize the pro-life group Sharks 4 Life as a school club during a school board meeting. To add insult to injury, the school board then decided that it would endorse the pro-LGBTQ club.
The reason for the decision? According to students, the club was deemed too “political” and too ” controversial”.
According to the Washington Times, the pro-life students aren’t going down without a fight.
Gabrielle Gabbard, a senior at Gulf Coast High School, lawyered up and took school officials to task for allowing pro-LGBTQ groups and religious aligned organizations but not her Sharks 4 Life. In a letter to the school district, Ms. Gabbard’s lawyers warned the decision runs afoul of the Constitution, including violating First Amendment protections by discriminating against the student because of her pro-life viewpoint. Gulf Coast High School has nearly 80 clubs but drew the line earlier this year when it came to Ms. Gabbard’s attempt to launch Sharks 4 Life, which is affiliated with Students for Life, a national organization that boasts more than 1,200 groups nationwide.
“These student clubs are an essential part of a student’s education because participating in and leading clubs allows students to develop their own special interests and to develop and express their religious and political views,” said Michael Ross, a lawyer with Alliance Defending Freedom.
“[The] failure to recognize Sharks 4 Life is blatantly illegal under the Equal Access Act and First Amendment, both of which guarantee [students the right to] have a student club that stands on equal footing with the hundreds of other student clubs in Collier County public schools,.”
Chad Oliver, a spokesperson from Collier County Public Schools, rejected the allegation Sharks 4 Life was ever denied the ability to be launched as a club.
“The Sharks 4 Life will open. A faculty sponsor has been found consistent with the principal’s efforts to work with students and parents to do so,” he said.
According to the Washington Times, Oliver believes the assistant principal’s words and actions have been mischaracterized by the student’s attorneys.
The majority of people who work in education vote democrat, because ultimately at the end of the day they are government employees. They get paid with tax dollars. Democrats are typically are godless individuals who think it’s okay to rip a baby apart in the womb, or at the very least think it should be an option.
When these people have the power to squash pro-life movements, they take use it, and now lawyers have to get involved. All because some high school kids have the “controversial” opinion that life has value.
And people wonder why we are falling behind in education…
