Donald Trump Jr. and his girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle, have been making the rounds to promote Jr.’s new book, “triggered”, but the pair were met with opposition by an unlikely crowd.
While at an event for Turning Point USA, a conservative group founded by Charlie Kirk, Trump Jr. found himself on the receiving end of attacks by fellow conservatives.
After talking about his book, the event opened up to a Q&A, and that’s when things got out of hand.
“The reason oftentimes it doesn’t make sense to do the Q&A is not because we’re not willing to talk about the questions, cause we do,” Trump Jr. said. “No. It’s because people hijack it with nonsense looking to go for some sort of sound bite. You have people spreading nonsense, spreading hate, trying to take over the room.”
This didn’t play well with the “America First” conservatives, who have expressed frustration with how the movement seems to have been hijacked by “never Trumpers,” like Kirk.
Nicholas Fuentes, Vincent James, and other outspoken conservatives online have taken Kirk to task for his openly accepting the LGBTQ into the conservative movement, giving members of that community a platform to promote themselves among conservatives.
Fuentes, who hosts a YouTube show called “America First,” says that the issue is not with the president’s son, but rather the host of the event, Charlie Kirk, whose organization has been struggling of late, with numerous chapters shutting down in protest.
“Our problem is not with @DonaldJTrumpJr who is a patriot— We are supporters of his father!” Fuentese tweeted. “Our problem is with Charlie Kirk’s TPUSA organization that SHUTS DOWN and SMEARS socially conservative Christians and supporters of President Trump’s agenda. We are AMERICA FIRST!”

Fuentes, James, and their followers have been showing up to events featuring conservatives they claim are a part of “conservative inc.”, or people who pretend to be conservatives while not pushing for policies that promote conservative values. They have no engaged in the activity of the left, but rather they have asked questions that routinely get shot down for being “racist”.
The “America First” conservatives are tired of being dismissed as “Nazis”, and say that Kirk, and other conservative speakers are engaging in the same name-calling the left uses to dismiss their genuine concerns.
Some of these issues include the promotion of immigration, acceptance of homosexuality, and essentially giving up on every conservative value in exchange for fiscal prosperity.
The “America First” conservatives also take exception with the supposed leaders of the movement being “Never Trumpers”. Ben Shapiro, Charlie Kirk, and Matt Walsh are heralded in conservative circles, however Fuentes and others are outraged at the fact that these people are now the “gatekeepers” for today’s republican supporters.
It would appear that the conservative civil war is on.
