It’s no secret that the media has been doing everything in their power to take down president Trump, but for some reason that’s proven a far more difficult task than imagined.
Part of that is due to the fact that president Trump has lived an extremely clean lifestyle, refusing to touch alcohol, and drugs, but this leads many to ask “why?”
Lifestyles of the rich and famous are often times full of lavish parties, and tales of drunken debauchery, but Trump has never ventured down that path, and once you discover the reason, it makes all the sense in the world.
Growing up, Donald Trump always looked up to his older brother Freddy. As the president said in his speech last week, he admired his brother, and thought very highly of him.
“I had a brother, Fred. Great guy. Best looking guy. Best personality. Much better than mine,” the president said during his speech on America’s opioid epidemic. “But he had a problem. He had a problem with alcohol. And he would tell me. ‘Don’t drink. Don’t drink.’ He was substantially older, and I would listen to him. And I respected him.”
The president goes on to say that Fred “would also add ‘don’t smoke,’ and he would say it over and over and over again.”
“And to this day, I have never had a drink, and I have no interest in it. And to this day I’ve never had a cigarette. There’s plenty of bad things too. He really helped me. I had somebody who guided me.”
Trump’s brother ultimately lost his life to alcoholism in 1981, which obviously has had a profound impact on our commander-in-chief.
“He was a strong guy, but it was a tough, tough thing that he was going through… but I learned because of Fred,” the president continued. “I learned. That’s what I think is so important… If we can teach young people not to take drugs. Just not to take them.”
In the past it seemed like substance abuse was a pre-requisite to entering the White House. George W. Bush loved him some cocaine. Barack Obama talks about rolling up doobies in his book, meanwhile Slick Willy Clinton tried to get away with saying he “did not inhale”.
The media doesn’t want this story to circulate because they don’t want to humanize the president. If everybody knew the president lost a brother to substance abuse, suddenly people have sympathy for him. It’s almost as though he IS relatable.
The things that happen in our past help shape the kind of person we ultimately become. President Trump saw his brother’s life ruined because of substance abuse, and now he’s using his position to encourage others to stay away from drugs and alcohol.
