Like most of you reading this, I’m tired of the constant squabbling.
Yes, the talking heads all over the media are exhausting, but now more than ever we conservatives need to respond with love.
Currently, the left’s narrative is that conservatives are “evil” and “greedy” people hellbent on promoting white supremacy. Never mind that conservatives donate more time and money to charity. Never mind that conservatives aim to maintain rights for all.
This, folks, is the side of conservatism Americans need to see. They need to see a group of people who don’t need the government to take care of them. They need to see people who care about their fellow man.
WHAT DOES THAT LOOK LIKE?
First of all, we don’t get “triggered”. When interacting with people who philosophically disagree with us, we cannot sink to their level and resort to name calling. No “libtards”, no “demonrats”, no “Hillbots”, none of that. Set aside the fact that they just aren’t funny… like, at all. They just make us seem stupid. When you see someone using those stupid phrases, call them out. Say “hey buddy, we are better than this. Let’s show them how.” I’m not saying it’s easy, because it’s not. However, that’s what it will take to win people over.
Second, we understand that “tolerance” isn’t always the best policy. Disclaimer: always be kind. That said, conservatives always seem to lose in the long run because we give up inches. We allow ourselves to be guilted, and ultimately give up our values. That’s why we have kids dancing on stage for grown men. That’s why we have the potential of red flag laws being enacted. That’s why we are moving towards socialism. We tolerate things that we shouldn’t just because we don’t want to be uncomfortable.
That is selfish. You are not looking out for the future generations who will have to deal with the fallout of us allowing humans and animals marry one another. The inevitable lawsuits because you accidentally ran over someone’s cat-husband… I joke, but at the same time, I’m sure they were joking that drag queens would host story time for kids.
Thirdly, we stick to the issues, and we hear the other side. One of the things that most people are guilty of is not engaging in active listening. We seem to wait until the other person is done making noises with their mouth holes, and then we say what we’ve been sitting on. That’s not listening. That’s not actively participating in a conversation. That’s two people talking at each other.
That doesn’t mean we agree with them, but we don’t dismiss them from the get-go.
There are a lot of other things we need to do as a group, but this is a good place to start. Go out, be a light to the world, and let’s show Americans why they too should join the movement that encourages freedom, and self-reliance.
